Hello
Just had a Sm1000 and tried to connect to my TS-480
Had a few problems.

1st Problem

When i tried to connect via RJ45 port.
PTT works fine after setting up the cables on patch panel.
But audio was just humming noise when tx (from monitor of the radio)

2nd Problem
Gave up connecting via rj45 and tried the 3.5mm sockets.
Audio was fine but no ptt (i measure about 120-130ohms of impedance during
ptt but it just doesnt ptt)
So made a backup solution and connected just ptt cables to 13 and 14 pins
on patch panel... now i got both ptt and nice outgoing audio..

Problem 3.. No sound at all on onboard speaker..But if i connect external
speaker i can rx the audio.. Onboad doesnt produce any sound..nothing at
all.

So, do i have a malfunctiond device or a cabling issue jumpers vs...
Any help will be appreciated.

I have my SM1000 connected to my TS480 just fine using the 6 pin data connector.

For about a year I was using the RJ45 on the SM1000 to the rj45 mic connector on the TS-480 as well, but I had to run a separate cable for the receive audio from the ts-480 to the sm1000 jack, since that is not present on the mic connector as I’m sure your aware of.

I switched to using the data jack, so I didn’t have to unplug the sm1000 to connect the normal mic for ssb.

Now I can use the SM1000, or the local mic, depending on which mode I care to use.

Hello Erich,
I got a second sm1000 here. It worked fine.
Seems like there is a problem with the other one.
I already got the schematics and try to check for the error here.

You may be able to lash up something similar to localize the problem.
Best of luck,
Erich
